Councilmember Fred Whitaker Announces Re-Election Effort
Whitaker Releases Platform & Early Endorsements

ORANGE, CA – Today, Councilmember Fred Whitaker, City of Orange announced his candidacy for re-election.

“I have been privileged to serve as Councilmember for the City of Orange for nearly four years. I care deeply about the direction of our city. My wife and I love Orange. We love raising our children here and enjoying the many wonderful qualities that set Orange apart from the rest of Orange County,” said Whitaker.

Councilmember Whitaker went on to say that he is “running to ensure Orange remains a terrific community in which to live and raise a family – as well as a thriving center of commerce and job creation.”

Whitaker’s priorities for a second term as an Orange City Councilmember are:

Making sure our City is responsible to the taxpayers of Orange by continuing pension reform.
Streamlining city hall further to make Orange more business friendly, creating jobs and tax base.
Setting funds aside each year to continually replace aging infrastructure in our streets, sewers and water systems.
Maintaining public safety by giving police officers and firefighters the tools they need to do their job.
Renewing our city’s commitment to parks and recreational opportunities by working on public private public partnerships.

“Because I believe in limited Government, I work hard to eliminate distractions and keep our city focused on just these fundamental responsibilities. I hope you agree and that based on my record, I’ve earned your support” Whitaker said.

Whitaker also announced the endorsements of Orange Mayor Tita Smith, Councilmember Mike Alvarez and Councilmember Mark A. Murphy along with former Mayors of Orange, Carolyn Cavecche, JoaAnne Coontz and James Beam. He is also endorsed by Congressman Ed Royce and Board of Supervisor Member Todd Spitzer.
